Suspected shoplifter hit by car while being chased from store in Trafford

A suspected shoplifter was hit by a car after being chased from a store in Trafford .

Police and ambulance crews were called Flixton Road in Urmston around 2.45pm on Saturday.

It is understood a woman ran into the road and collided with a vehicle after being chased from Quality Save on Golden Way.

The air ambulance was called to the scene and landed nearby, however it is believed the woman was taken to hospital via road.

Exact details of her injuries have not yet been released, but police say they are not as serious as originally thought.

GMP Urmston tweeted to say she would be 'dealt' with at a later date.

Flixton Road was closed near to the train station for several hours while emergency services attended.

Bus services also diverted.

Police posted on Twitter on Sunday: "Update re yesterday. A shoplifter was being chased from Urmston but ran in the road into a car.

"Thought serious at first hence the air ambulance and road closure. All ok inc the driver of the car.

"The shoplifter will be getting dealt with at a later date."
