Suspected human remains have been found in the search for missing Bundaberg teenager Pheobe Bishop, 9News reports.
Queensland Police found the remains at around 2:30pm today during a search of an area near Good Night Scrub National Park, less than an hour away from Gin Gin.
The remains have not yet been formally identified, pending forensic examination. In the meantime, the site has been declared a crime scene.
Police have been in touch with the 17-year-old’s family. Upon learning the news, Pheobe’s mother Kylie Johnson said: “I didn’t think my heart could break anymore than it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid, but this, this is ripping me apart”.
Police said the search and discovery came after “further enquiries and investigations today”.
Police arrested James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, in relation to the 17-year-old’s disappearance on Thursday evening, three weeks to the day after she missed a flight and vanished. The pair have been charged with one count each of murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse.

Police also released bodycam vision on Friday of the moment Bishop’s male housemate was arrested at a property in the Bundaberg area. Dressed in tracksuit pants and t-shirt, Wood can be seen being taken into custody in the kitchen, and then led outside by detectives to a waiting police car.
“Just listen to me,” one of the detectives said.
“I’m placing you under arrest for the homicide of Pheobe Bishop.”
The teen was last seen near Bundaberg airport on May 15. She had booked a trip to Western Australia, but CCTV footage revealed that she never entered the airport.
