- A 37-year-old man suspected of carrying out a string of deadly shootings in Tarsus, Mersin province, southern Turkey, has died by suicide.
- The suspect allegedly killed his wife and five other people, and wounded eight others, during the rampage on Monday.
- He then allegedly fired from his car at a restaurant, killing its owner and an employee, before also killing a teenager, a 50-year-old man, and another victim in a separate Tarsus neighbourhood.
- Police had launched a major search operation using helicopters and drones before locating the man, who reportedly took his own life inside a house where he was hiding.
- The Mersin governor’s office said the man had a history of substance abuse and psychiatric problems, with these incidents occurring amidst broader concerns over gun violence and school safety in Turkey.
