Man, 29, arrested after Huyton house sprayed with bullets

A man has been arrested after a window and door were blasted while the terrified residents were still inside the house.

Merseyside Police rushed to the scene in Huyton at around 2.30am on Sunday.

A window and front door were left damaged after the gunman opened fire at the house on Woolfall Crescent.

Hours later at 7.10pm, another shooting took place in Huyton, this time outside a home in Reeds Road, a six minute drive away from the first incident.

Police are not linking the two incidents at this stage.

There were people inside the Woolfall Crescent property at the time of the shooting.

Today police confirmed a 29-year-old man from Roby had been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, burglary and possession of cannabis.

He has been taken into custody for questioning by officers.

Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald said: “The arrest today shows that where people seek to use dangerous weapons to cause fear and harm in our communities we will take action and bring those responsible to justice.

“While we have made one arrest, detectives are still working tirelessly to investigate this incident and a further incident on Reeds Road, Huyton, on Sunday evening.

“We know how shocking these incidents have been for the community in Huyton and we have stepped up high visibility patrols in the area."

He added: "We don’t believe the incidents to be linked at this stage in the investigation and would continue to urge the community to come forward with any information.

“We will act on all information provided on gun crime to remove weapons and those who use them from the community. Please come forward with what you know, directly or anonymously, and we will do the rest.”
