Suspected gun and drug dealer named in organised crime probe

A suspected drugs and weapon dealer from Liverpool has been named as part of an ongoing North West Regional Organised Crime Unit probe.

The 50 year-old from Allerton is due in court today to face gun and drug allegations.

Merseyside Police said a man was arrested by officers from the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) on Thursday morning and later charged.

And a spokesperson said: "Peter Lawler from Eton Court, Allerton, has been charged with conspiring to sell or transfer a prohibited weapon on May 15, 2020 and with the offence of possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply."

Police said the development was part of "an ongoing investigation into firearms and drugs offences committed in the Merseyside and Greater Manchester areas".

Lawler has been remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court today, Friday, June 25.
