Suspected drug driver smashed through garden wall

A suspected drug driver has been arrested after a car smashed into a wall and ended up in a front garden.

The black Vauxhall Astra veered off Lever Park Avenue in Horwich, near Bolton, at about 3.30pm yesterday (Saturday, June 5).

Police say the vehicle 'lost control at speed' and crashed through a brick wall before coming to rest in the garden of a house.

After failing a drug test, the driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and driving without due care and attention.

The location is the tree-lined road to Rivington with large homes on either side.

Fire crews from the town's station attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 15:32 this afternoon a single vehicle was involved in a collision with a garden wall on Lever Park Avenue in Horwich.

"Firefighters from Horwich fire station made the scene safe, assessed the driver of the vehicle who had no injuries, and then also cleared engine oil and debris from the road to protect the local environment. Firefighters were on the scene for one hour."
