A driver led police on a 100mph chase through a quiet village before getting lost on an estate.
Officers started a pursuit when a VW Passat failed to stop as requested on Hall Street in Farnworth at 5am on Wednesday.
It reached speeds of up to 100mph as it travelled into Little Lever, hurtling straight across a mini roundabout.
It went along Victory Road, Lord Street and Market Street before speeding across a 'give way' junction on Manchester Road, narrowly missing a bus.
The pursuing police patrol car cornered the fleeing Passat on a cul-de-sac, Herbet Street.
Officers believe he had 'become lost' on the estate.
