Suspected drug driver 'attempted to ram' police car in chase through Bolton

A suspected drug driver fled from police and then tried to ram a marked car in a chase through Bolton.

Officers spotted a black Vauxhall Corsa on Bradford Road, Farnworth, in the early hours of this morning but the car did not stop when police tried to pull it over.

After a short chase, the driver of the Vauxhall decided to try and ram the pursuing vehicles.

However, the officers were able to block him in and arrest him.

In a tweet, a spokesman for GMP's Traffic Unit said the driver went on to fail a roadside drugs test.

They said: "Driver of the Corsa would fail to stop for ME18 on Bradford Road, Farnworth.

"Pursued for five mins until the driver attempted to ram the patrol on Presto St.

"Blocked in and detained by the officer.

"No licence. No insurance. Failed a drugs test also. Car seized."

Anyone with information on non-urgent vehicle crime in Bolton should contact police on 101.
