Suspected drug driver arrested after 'attempting to lose' cops during chase

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a police chase in Bolton.

Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police said that they stopped a silver Ford Focus in Waterloo Street this morning (June 6), close to Bolton Gate Retail Park.

In a post on the GMP Traffic Twitter account, a spokesman also alleged that the driver "attempted to lose" the police by driving around a nearby estate.

The driver was given a saliva test at the road side and tested positive for cocaine.

A spokesman for GMP Traffic wrote: "ME11 just stopped this Ford Focus off the network on Waterloo Street Bolton after it attempted to lose the patrol in a nearby estate.

"Driver would fail a roadside drug test having provided a sample of saliva indicating cocaine in his system.

"Male arrested."
