Suspected drug dealer arrested for second time in a week

Officers from Merseyside Police's South Sefton base claimed another success in their anti-drugs campaign Operation Pelican in the early hours of today.

Officers arrested a 66-year-old male and a 22-year-old male on suspicion of drug supply offences. For the younger man it was his second time in custody this week at the hands of Operation Pelican.

The maximum sentences for intent to supply drugs are up to life in prison, an unlimited fine or both for a Class A drug, and up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both for a Class B or Class C drug.

The Pelican operation is an ongoing campaign launched in 2017 to combat the drug trade and gang violence in Bootle, Netherton, Litherland, and the surrounding areas.
