Suspected drink-driver stopped by police with open bottle of beer on knee - and 14 more in the footwell

A suspected drink-driver was stopped by police with an open bottle of beer on their knee - and 14 more bottles the footwell.

The driver was stopped by officers from North West Motorway Police on the M6 northbound.

Officers said they spotted the driver 'literally drinking whilst driving'.

They had an open bottle of beer on their lap - and 14 more in the footwell.

Police arrested the driver after they provided a positive breath test.

In a post on the North West Motorway Police Facebook page, officers said: "Information passed by @CMPG of a vehicle driving dangerously M6 NB entering the NWMPG area.

"Vehicle stopped by #MS28. Driver was literally drinking whilst driving.

"14 bottles of beer in the footwell one open on the driver's lap.

"Driver arrested for positive breath test."
