Suspected drink driver ploughs into four cars in Boxing Day smash

A suspected drink-driver was arrested at the scene of a five-car Boxing Day smash.

A photograph taken at the scene shows a badly damaged silver Honda Civic with a smashed windscreen and its front side caved in while another vehicle was left facing the wrong way after the crash last night.

Merseyside Police said the crash took place in Lytham Road, Southport at around 8.15pm on Thursday.

Despite the smash, which saw debris scatter across the residential street, nobody was injured when the Honda collided with at least four parked vehicles, reports Lancs Live .

But police confirmed Andrew Beck, 26, of Crosby Road, Birkdale , has been charged with drink driving and bailed to appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court on January 15.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "A man has been charged with drink driving after an incident in Southport on Boxing Day.

"A report was received at about 8.15pm that a silver Honda Civic had been in collision with four parked vehicles on Lytham Road."

He added: "There were no reports of any injuries. Officers attended and Andrew Beck, 26, of Crosby Road, Birkdale was arrested and later charged with drink driving.

"He has been released and bailed to appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court on 15 January."
