Suspected drink driver abandoned crash-damaged car on the M60 and then went 'for a walk'.

A suspected drink-driver abandoned his car on the M60 after a crash and decided to 'go for a walk'.

The driver of the severely damaged VW Golf then told gob-smacked motorway officers: "I've not hit anything."

The drama happened at junction 5 of the M60 where it meets the Princess Parkway on south Manchester on Saturday night.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and remains in police custody for question.

North West Motorway Police shared details of the incident on their Facebook page, including a picture of the severely damaged VW Golf which appeared to have damage to its nearside.

The image showed a crumpled front passenger door and a front tyre which appeared to have been completely removed.

The post said: "The drunk driver of this vehicle decided to stop at J5 #M60 & go for a walk.

"Driver stopped by #ME18 & stated “I’ve got 2x flat tyres, I’ve not hit anything”.

"Damage to his vehicle said otherwise. Driver arrested & provided an evidential sample of 62 in custody."

The wrecked Toyota Yaris left behind at Slattocks Link in Middleton after the crash (Greater Manchester Police)

Yesterday Greater Manchester Police shared an image of a wrecked Toyota Yaris following a crash in Middleton involving an alleged drug-driver.

The picture showed what was left of the Yaris following a collision at Slattocks Link, in Middleton, off the A627M.

According to a spokesperson for GMP, the car rolled 'several times' at the end of the link road, before ending up landing on Whitbrook Way.

But, GMP said, after providing a positive test sample for cocaine in a drugs test, the driver was arrested by officers.
