Suspected deliberately lit grass fire, right outside Tuggeranong fire station

South Tuggeranong Fire and Rescue brigades were called to a fire that is suspected to have been deliberately lit, conspicuously just across the road from their fire station.

On the ACT Incidents Map, the location of the fire was listed as being at the fire and rescue station.

Police will investigate after firefighters were called to the address, at the corner of Drakeford and Tharwa Drives, after reports of a grass and rubbish fire.

Firefighters attended the scene and found a small fire about eight metres by three metres in size.

An Emergency Services Agency spokesman said given the crews were so close, the small fire was extinguished quickly.

The case has been handed to ACT Policing.
