Suspected dealer arrested after 100 heroin wraps thrown on roof

A teenager was caught throwing 100 wraps of heroin onto a roof after police busted a suspected drugs deal in a town centre alleyway.

The suspect made a run for it after police rumbled a "suspected drugs transaction" in the alleyway on Stanley Street, Southport town centre.

As he fled the scene around 7.15pm yesterday he was spotted throwing items onto the roof of a building nearby and was detained by police.

The heroin wraps were retrieved from the roof along with a phone and cash.

The man was also searched and suspected cannabis and cocaine were also found and seized.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We have arrested a man and seized suspected drugs following an incident in Southport town centre last night, Thursday 12 August.

"At around 7.15pm, officers on patrol on Stanley Street witnessed a suspected drugs transaction in an alleyway. A man was detained nearby after attempting to run off, and was seen to discard items onto a roof.

"Around 100 wraps of suspected heroin were seized, plus cash and a phone."

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson added: "An 18-year-old man from Litherland was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and taken to a police station for questioning."
