Suspected British ISIS soldier to be deported back to UK from Turkey

Turkey has deported one British and seven German IS suspects back to their home countries.

Interior ministry officials confirmed the move to news agencies close to the government in Ankara.

An American was deported this morning and he will be following by the eight others, Turkish state television reported.

None of the deportees have been named by officials but the American is said to be Muhammed Darwis B - a US citizen of Jordanian descent.

Greek border cops refused him entry when he tried to cross into their country near the town of Kastanies.

There are 1,201 foreign Isis convicts and suspects held in Turkish jails.

The exact number of Brits being held in Turkish custody is unknown.

Earlier this month week the country’s interior minister Suleyman Soylu said: “Countries can’t just revoke the citizenship of such ex-terrorists and expect Turkey to take care of them; this is unacceptable to us and it’s also irresponsible.

“Turkey is not a hotel for foreign terrorists.”

One of of the British jihadists held in Syria is Aine Davis who was part of the infamous cell known as 'The Beatles'.

Davis was sentenced by Turkish authorities to seven-and-a-half years in jail in 2017 after his capture in Istanbul in 2015.

Since 2010 the UK has stripped more than 100 people of British citizenship over their alleged links to Isis, al-Qaida, al-Shabab and other terrorist groups.

Although under a 1961 international convention it is illegal to leave someone stateless, several countries, including the UK and France, have not ratified it.
