Suspected bird strike leads to early morning delays at Dublin Airport

A suspected bird strike resulted in early morning flight delays at Dublin Airport.

Airport authorities jumped into action after a departing aircraft feared a bird strike at 7.55 am during takeoff.

The fire station immediately did a thorough runaway inspection in between landings and takeoffs but no bird carcass was found.

While they didn’t close down the runway during the incident, flights were slightly delayed for about 10 minutes.

Siobhan O’Donnell, a daa spokeswoman, said: “A departing aircraft reported a suspect bird strike at 07.55 on take-off.

“As per our standard operating procedures the Fire Station did a runway inspection in between landings and take offs, no bird carcase was found.

“The runway was not closed at any stage but aircraft were slowed for about 10 minutes during this time causing minimal disruption to the flight schedule.”
