A suspect who jumped into a canal to evade the police was caught out ... after leaving a trail of water behind him.
Greater Manchester Police shared the images of a watery trial that was left behind after a male suspect had jumped into the canal in the city centre in an attempt to escape.
Through following the trail and using local CCTV footage, officers eventually traced the suspect. The force did not specify what the male was wanted for.
A post shared by the GMP City Centre division said: "A male decided to make off from this afternoon resulting in him taking a dip in the canal when trying to make good his escape.
"Not the best idea as he left a watery trail which aided & CCTV Operators to find him. Anyway “#Cakes” as we say in the profession!"
