Suspect turns himself in after San Jose home invasion caught on video

May 13--One of two knife-wielding suspects involved in a harrowing home invasion in San Jose that was caught by a surveillance camera turned himself in Wednesday morning, police said.

The 17-year-old male surrendered to San Jose police and was interviewed by robbery detectives before being booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall, officials said.

Police are still trying to identify and locate additional suspects.

Two adults and a child were inside the home last Friday when the suspects entered, police said. They fled the home before police arrived.

The nearly six-minute-long surveillance video, posted on YouTube, shows the pair peering into the home before entering, armed with knives.

The two adults saw the intruders coming upstairs to the second floor and fled into a bedroom with the child, police said. Local media said the two adults were women.

The suspects began kicking the bedroom door down.

The three people then locked themselves in the bathroom as the suspects broke down the bedroom door, authorities said. The suspects attempted to get the people to open the bathroom door and fled after they refused, police said.

No one was injured in the break-in, authorities said.

"We are still in shock. It was a terrible experience," Bikram Singh told KGO-TV News. Singh lives in the home with Bani Kaur, and it was the couple's sister-in-law and her mother who were there at the time, according to KGO.

This was the second time thieves targeted the home; after the first burglary, the couple installed security cameras, the TV station reported.
