Suspect named after woman stabbed in neck and stomach

A 50-year-old man from Southport has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in Southport.

A 48-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck and abdomen on Virginia Street on June 25.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Today Merseyside Police confirmed Leslie Marshall, of Virginia Street, has been charged with attempted murder.

The woman is now said to be in a stable condition in hospital after undergoing surgery.

Leslie Marshall will appear at Merseyside Domestic Violence Remand Court this morning, June 28.

Following the attack the scene was cordoned off by police and a forensic team arrived to scour the area for evidence.
