A suspect has been charged after two teenagers were injured in a stabbing on a city region bus.
Cheshire police said Hamid Akhonzada, 26, of Liskeard Close, Brookvale, Runcorn, was arrested in Croydon, south London, at around 1.30pm on Friday.
Akhonzada has been charged with wounding with intent against a 17-year-old boy, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) towards a 16-year-old girl and possession of a knife in a public place.
He was remanded in custody to appear at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court in Warrington today.
The investigation relates to an incident on an Arriva 79c service bus that was travelling between Brookvale and Palacefields in Runcorn.
A Cheshire police spokesman said: “The 17-year-old boy sustained facial injuries as a result of the incident, which occurred at around 3.15pm on Saturday, May 8.
“He was taken to Warrington General Hospital in an ambulance and has since been discharged after receiving treatment.
“The 16-year-old girl sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.”
