Suspect named after pub burgled and car stolen

A man has been charged in connection with two burglaries including a popular pub.

Lee Makin, 36, from Wigan, was charged with a burglary in Robins Lane in St Helens on Sunday, June 6 - in which property including a car was stolen - and a burglary at the Glass House pub on Market Street on Friday, June 3.

The force said Makin, of Buchanan Drive, Hindley Green, has now been remanded in custody to next appear at Bolton Crown Court on Friday, August 20.

In a statement today, Merseyside Police said: "Detectives from Operation Castle, our dedicated burglary team, have charged a Wigan man in connection with two burglaries in St Helens in June.

"36-year-old Lee Makin of Buchanan Drive, Hindley Green, Wigan was charged with a burglary in Robins Lane on Sunday 6 June, in which property including a car was stolen; and a burglary at the Glass House pub on Market Street on Friday 3 June.

"Makin has been remanded in custody to next appear at Bolton Crown Court on the Friday 20 August."
