Suspect named after pensioner suffers serious injuries to his face

A suspect has appeared in court charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) after a pensioner suffered a serious injury to his face in Widnes.

Cheshire police said officers arrested Daniel McAdams at home on Moorside Court at around 4.20pm on Monday.

McAdams, 34, was charged with inflicting GBH without intent and appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court in Warrington yesterday where he was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, March 3.

The charge followed an incident outside in the Albert Square area of the town centre at around 3.30pm on Monday.

A Cheshire police spokesman said the pensioner suffered a “serious facial injury” and was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he was treated.

He has since been discharged.
