Suspect named after M62 police chase leads to gun find

A man is due to appear in court after being charged with gun offences following a police chase on the M62.

Ashley Duggan faces allegations that include possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life following his arrest this weekend.

The 32-year-old was charged after officers from Merseyside Police pursued a biker on the motorway on Saturday night.

The operation led to them stopping the rider in Cheshire at around 9pm between Junction 10, for the Croft Interchange, and Junction 11, for Birchwood.

The force said: "Following a search of the rider, a firearm was recovered and the rider was arrested and taken into custody for questioning."

Duggan, of Stanton Avenue, Salford has now been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm without a certificate, possession of ammunition, receiving stolen goods, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court today.
