Suspect named after gun found in kitchen cupboard in Liverpool

A man has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition after a gun was found in a kitchen cupboard.

Anthony Foat was taken in by police after officers conducted a drugs warrant at an address in South Ferry Quay, Liverpool at 10am on Monday, November 9.

Police used forced entry to get inside the property where they found a modified live firearm and ammunition in the kitchen cupboard and detained two people.

Foat, 29, was charged and appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on November 11 where he was remanded into custody until November 30.

The other person detained was a 19 year old woman who was released under investigation for the offence but was remanded in custody due to being wanted on warrant for a separate drugs offence in Scotland.

Merseyside police spokesperson said: “Officers conducted a search of the property and recovered a modified live firearm and ammunition in the kitchen cupboard.

"The 19 year old woman and 29 year old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and taken to custody.

"Following enquiries and forensic examination, the woman was released under investigation for this offence but was remanded in custody due to being wanted on warrant for a separate drugs offence in Scotland.

"The man, Anthony Foat, of South Ferry Quay, was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition."
