Suspect in sexual assault of UCLA student at off-campus fraternity is arrested

LOS ANGELES_A suspect has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault of a University of California, Los Angeles student at an off-campus fraternity party, authorities said.

Nima Bendavood, 21, surrendered to detectives Saturday afternoon at the campus police station, UCLA police said in a statement.

He was booked for sexual assault and is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on $100,000 bail, police said.

Bendavood is not a UCLA student.

A UCLA student whose age was not disclosed told campus police that she was assaulted by the suspect shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 12 at an off-campus fraternity, police said.

On Thursday, UCLA police distributed photos of the suspect to the media.
