Suspect charged in connection with Glasgow murder bid after car driven at group of men

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Glasgow.

Police were called to an incident at around 3pm on Sunday with reports of a car being driven at a group of men in Blaeloch Drive in Castlemilk.

A 35-year-old man declined medical treatment at the scene.

Police carried out extensive enquiries across the southside area of Glasgow following the incident, involving uniformed officers, detectives and the dog unit.

Detective Sergeant Keith Runcie, based at Cathcart CID, said: “Reckless acts of violence won’t be tolerated in our communities and the quick actions of our officers, which involved uniformed officers as well as detectives and the dog unit, has resulted in a man being arrested and charged in connection with this incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any concerns or information about violence or crime in their area to contact us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.”

The man will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
