Suspect arrested on suspicion of murder over fatal motorbike crash

A person has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a motorbike accident in Bristol which left a man dead.

Police were called to Hartcliffe after a man riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a van parked at Fulford Road at about 5.45pm yesterday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

Officers arrested a suspect on suspicion of murder today (April 6).

The suspect remains in police custody. Police have declined to reveal the person's age or sex.

Police have confirmed they are investigating whether an object could have been obstructing the road at the time of the crash.

Fulford Road reopened overnight after following an examination of the scene and recovery of the vehicles.

Uniformed officers are patrolling the area to provide community reassurance. Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team continue to make enquiries among a number of potential witnesses.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
