Suspect arrested after TikTok user 'scares lone women on Tube'

A suspect has been arrested after a string of incidents in which a man caused alarm by deliberately sitting next to lone female passengers on the Tube.

British Transport Police said its officers are investigating a series of “distressing incidents” and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Videos have been circulating online regarding the offences and are believed to have been uploaded by a wannabe influencer on TikTok.

The clips often show a young man quietly sitting in the carriage of a train, before suddenly and loudly shouting and breaking into song while being secretly recorded.

The victims include the elderly, and while the TikTok user attempts to make light of the incidents by striking up a conversation with the individuals he has scared, they appear visibly shaken by the incidents, MailOnline reported.

Other videos from his account show footage of him approaching what appear to be strangers, often older women, where he asks them if they find him attractive.

A spokesperson for BTP said: "We are appealing for victims and witnesses following a spate of incidents on the London Underground.

"Officers investigating a series of distressing incidents where a man appears to scare lone females while sitting next to them on tube trains have made an arrest.

“The videos have been widely shared on social media and officers are now appealing to victims and witnesses to come forward.
