Suspect, 26, named after pensioner hit by car

A woman has been charged after an elderly woman was hit by a car in Warrington.

An 81-year-old woman was hit by a car near to the pedestrian crossing on Knutsford Road, Latchford at 12.44pm on Wednesday, April 5. The victim is believed to have sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries .

Officers have now confirmed that they have charged Deborah Cubas De Souza of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The 26-year-old, of Platt Bridge, Wigan, will appear in court on Friday, May 5.

A spokesperson for Cheshire police said: "Officers have charged a woman from Warrington in relation to a collision that occurred in Latchford.

"Deborah Cubas De Souza was arrested Wednesday 5 April after officers on patrol in Warrington came across a collision involving an 81-year-old pedestrian on Knutsford Road, Latchford.

"The 26-year-old of Platt Bridge, Wigan, was arrested and subsequently charged of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has been committed to appear at Liverpool Crown Court for sentencing on Friday 5 May."
