A suspect has been charged with murdering an elderly man in south west London.
The death of Robert Hill, 81, was not believed to be suspicious when he passed away in Woodbourne Avenue, Streatham on May 16.
Detectives have been unable to identify his next of kin.
But they arrested David Souttar, 22, at Walworth Police Station on Thursday, October 16 following new information and further enquiries.
The Metropolitan Police said Hill, of Chelsham Road, Clapham, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Friday accused of murder.
He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Detective Chief Superintendent Emma Bond, who leads policing in Lambeth said: “Detectives from the Met continue to investigate Robert’s sad death earlier this year.
“I understand that this update may be a concern to those in the local area, please do speak with your local neighbourhood team who are there to support you.
“We would also like to ask the public for help, as we have been unable to identify Robert’s next of kin.
“If you knew Robert, or are a family member then please do come forward.
