Much speculation in the papers over Susanna Reid's future after the Sunday People's front-page story that there is a "bidding war" over the presenter after she "strongly hinted" she is ready to quit BBC Breakfast. It claimed that ITV is ready to offer the Strictly Come Dancing finalist a £500,000-a-year-plus deal, quoting an ITV source as saying: "Susanna is being talked about at a senior level. She is the hottest property in TV land at the moment and her versatility makes her an attractive proposition for primetime." It claimed that Channel 5 is also interested. However, it's reverse ferret this morning, with the Mirror quoting her as responding: "If you cut me open I would bleed BBC. I said when BBC Breakfast moved to Salford that the BBC runs through me like a stick of rock – and nothing has changed." A BBC added: "We are ready to offer her some generous incentives to show Susanna how well she is thought of on the Breakfast show. We will be looking at things like making life more comfortable for Susanna when she travels." With Reid's travel currently involving a daily train trip from London to Salford and back, what could "more comfortable" mean? A private carriage? A limo? Try explaining that to the MPs on the Commons public accounts committee.
