Susanna Reid spills on Piers Morgan reunion as she congratulates him on TRIC win

Susanna Reid was keen to congratulate her former Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan on Thursday as she opened the ITV show.

The mother-of-three was joined by Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway as she spoke about Piers' win at the TRIC Awards, which took place in London on Wednesday.

Susanna and Piers reunited for the first time since he quit the show in March after bosses asked him to apologise for comments made about Meghan Markle ’s interview with Oprah, which drew over 50,000 complaints.

Piers invited her to share his win for Best News Presenter - which she was also nominated for - crediting the “remarkable” team that put the breakfast show together during the pandemic.

Speaking about the moment on Thursday morning, Susanna said: "There was an absolutely lovely moment yesterday where he said, 'team work makes the dream work'.

"But it's down to you because no one held politicians to account like you did during the pandemic, so congratulations Piers," Susanna added.

During her time on stage with him, Susanna joked: "He can start an argument in an empty room. I’ve never known anyone get so worked up over a sausage roll."

Piers said the pair had developed “close bonds” during the pandemic, adding: “It felt it was right to share with Susanna.

"I haven’t seen Susanna since I left so it was very emotional. You get very close to someone when you work that closely together. Not many men have seen Susanna Reid at 5am in her curlers."

Susanna also got to go up on stage to accept the award for Best Multi-Channel News Show alongside her Good Morning Britain colleagues.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
