Susanna Reid 'speechless' as Adil Ray defends Meghan Markle's book

Susanna Reid was left 'speechless' as Adil Ray defended Meghan Markle over the news she's going to release a children's book.

The Good Morning Britain hosts were discussing the Duchess of Sussex' latest venture into writing.

Meghan, 39, has written a children’s book inspired by the relationship between her husband Prince Harry and their son, Archie, who turns two on Thursday.

Her writing debut, titled The Bench, is about the special bond between a father and son - as seen through a mother’s eyes - and features illustrations from award-winning artist Christian Robinson.

"I think it's great, it’s fantastic," Adil said on Wednesday's GMB. "It's a great story. A great idea about the father and son relationship.

"Often when we think about children’s books we think about the mother and daughter in these times is quite interesting.

"I think it's clearly going to be personal because it’ll be her relationship with her own son and Harry. I think it’s fantastic, it’s positive. It’s a great thing and I hope it does very well.

"What’s more to say about it, why would you knock it?"

He added again: "Why would anybody knock it?’" as Susanna agreed: "Absolutely right."

Fellow presenter Sean Fletcher then weighed in: "You're flabbergasted to have someone here who praises Meghan Markle's book.

"You're speechless, aren't you Susanna?"

Adil continued: "No, I think it's fantastic and good luck to them. I think they're both doing very well."

However, the comments come after former GMB host Piers Morgan slammed Meghan for the use of her royal title.

He said in his latest column for the Daily Mail : "Yet when it comes to flogging her book, what author name does Meghan Markle use?

"Ah, of course: 'Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex."

The 56-year-old went on to blast the couple's other brand opportunities after they signed a lucrative contract with Netflix and Spotify, rumoured to the worth more than £100 million.
