Susanna Reid speaks out on Good Morning Britain future

Susanna Reid has spoken out following speculation she could be leaving Good Morning Britain.

This week saw Susanna's co-host Piers Morgan leave the show after five years following his comments about Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah.

Susanna appeared on GMB on Wednesday following Mr Morgan's decision to quit on Tuesday evening.

Susanna said on Wednesday's show : "A number of people will of course know the news and many of you will not and will be surprised that Piers Morgan is not here this morning.

"Now, Piers and I have disagreed on many things and that dynamic was one of the things that viewers liked about the programme.

"He is without a doubt an outspoken, challenging, opinionated, disruptive broadcaster. He has many critics and he has many fans.

"He has been my presenting partner Monday to Wednesday for more than five years, and during Brexit and the pandemic and other issues, he has been a voice for many of you and a voice that many of you have railed against.

"It is certainly going to be very different but the show must go on."

Susanna was missing from Thursday's show, sparking speculation she may be following Mr Morgan out the door.

But a spokesperson for Susanna confirmed she would be staying on the show.

Speaking to the Daily Star the spokesperson said: "Susanna often takes Thursdays off and she will continue working has normal."

Yesterday Mr Morgan confirmed he would not be returning to the show, but thanked everyone who had signed a petition to reinstate him.

He tweeted: "I won’t be going back, but thanks to everyone who has signed these petitions.

"Normally, people start petitions to have me fired or deported, so this is a pleasant surprise."
