Susanna Reid shuts down Piers Morgan BBC Breakfast claims as he says he's joining show

Susanna Reid has shut down former co-host Piers Morgan's jibe that he's going on BBC Breakfast to replace Louise Minchin.

Louise sent shockwaves through television sets on social media on Tuesday when she revealed she was quitting the BBC morning show after 20 years as presenter.

Viewers were left devastated by her shock announcement which came live on air and, while he knew her secret, the 52-year-old's presenting partner Dan Walker later admitted he wasn't sure what he'd do without her.

The Football Focus star tweeted: "He posted: ""This feels like a break-up

"What am I going to do without Louise?

"Thank you for all the lovely messages after an emotional morning on #BBCBreakfast - I’m sure Louise will get to read them all later.

"My life will be poorer without her on the sofa. She’s the best."

Having sparred with Dan on plenty of occasions when he was still host on Good Morning Britain, Piers couldn't resist a very public reaction and told him: "Stop blubbing Dan - I start Monday. BBC wanted the guy who beat you in the ratings, and the first same-sex male breakfast presenting team to appease the wokies."

Susanna, who earlier told Louise she couldn't believe she was leaving. was quick to react to Piers' post and tweeted: "April 1st just moved to June 8th…"

Reacting to her tweet, one follower wrote: "brilliant. It’s a shame he left. You two were a great partnership" and another told her: "Ha ha this would be epic"

Taking a different tact, other fans said Susanna should switch to BBC to join Dan Walker while others said they'd love to see Louise Minchin on Good Morning Britain.
