Susanna Reid's no-alcohol diet: GMB host tells Piers Morgan she’s ‘losing will'

Susanna Reid admitted she is losing the will to live over her alcohol-free diet after Piers Morgan teased her with pictures of a pint of Guinness.

Morgan filled in his Good Morning Britain co-stars on his trip to Dublin, telling Reid he had Ireland’s best Guinness.

Reid said: “That’s one thing I do miss, Guinness. Used to be my drink of choice.”

Morgan mocked: “Now it’s kale smoothies. ‘I’ve never been happier. Kale smoothie with my carrot cake’.”

Reid was left grimacing as she described the Sunday roast she was forced to endure this weekend after the restaurant she was dining at only had one vegetarian option.

“I went out for Sunday roast yesterday,” she said. “Literally one non-meat option: spiced cauliflower. It came with pureed parsnip and chickpeas. I practically lost the will to live. There is no joy in that.”

Reid, who has been two months tee-total, joked Morgan may be able to twist her arm by the end of the week.

“You might win me over by Friday lunch time Piers Morgan,” she said.

Reid’s latest comments came days after she admitted to missing alcohol, saying she can no longer get involved in downing shots on a night out.

Speaking to the Is It Just Me? podcast she said: “I really miss it. When you are in a big social group and the shots come out, I miss letting my hair down.

“When you cut alcohol out that is an easy couple of pounds.

“As you get older your memory is affected. I just thought ‘alcohol is not great for your memory’.”

The presenter, who is dating Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, has lost one stone since scrapping alcohol from her diet in a bid to lower her BMI after doctors warned her she was at the top end earlier this year.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
