Susanna Reid's 'furious' mum texts GMB host live on air to scold Piers Morgan

Susanna Reid received a "furious text" from her mum during today's Good Morning Britain.

The GMB host's mother, Sue Smith, slammed her daughter's "flippin' co-presenter" while she was live on air.

After discussing a video of a young boy who kept trying in karate class despite crying, Susanna said she would have taken her kids out.

Piers called the mother-of-three a 'snowflake', which did not go down with her mum watching at home.

Reading out the message, Susanna explained: "I've had a furious text from my mum"

Trying to laugh it off, Piers said: "Don't tell me, your mother is annoyed at me again."

Continuing to read the text, Susanna said: "'Tell your flippin' co-presenter about when you wanted to give up ballet when you were five because you found practising for the exam tougher than you expected.

"She says 'I wouldn't let you stop until after the exam, you got a distinction'."

Susanna loved that her mum felt proud and was shocked that she could still remember the event from 43 years ago.

She continued reading: "And you loved the feeling of success. When I said you can stop now you said 'no way.''"

However, Piers tried to defend himself by insisting that Susanna's mum was actually on his side.

He said: "You know why your mum said that? She may have a go at your 'flippin' co-presenter' because your mother is one of my toughest critic's.

"However, what she is really saying is 'she's not like me'. I trained her to be tough. She's become this snowflake on air. But don't blame me Piers.

"It's Susanna's mum distancing herself from your snowflakery. 'In my family, we were tough.'"
