Susanna Reid reunites with Ukrainian girl, 8, after she went viral for singing in bunker

Susanna Reid reunites with the little Ukrainian girl who went viral for singing Frozen's Let It Go in a bunker in Kyiv during the ongoing war with Russia.

Eight-year-old Amelia Anisovych first met the Good Morning Britain presenter in Poland in April, with Amelia and her mother arriving in the UK at a later date.

Amelia wowed the world with her rendition of the track, and has since performed on stage in televised events including The Voice Kids in Poland.

For Christmas Day, GMB presenter Susanna welcomes Amelia onto the ITV show to discuss what she has been up to since they last talked to each other.

On the pre-recorded reunion, Susanna exclaims: “It’s such a delight to see you, I’m so thrilled to see you!”

Amelia reveals she has been in America and has even recorded a song for a secret project.

The little girl is also asked what her plans are for Ukrainian Christmas, which takes place on 7th January each year.

Amelia says she will be “with the whole family, sitting and eating, and added she 'can’t wait to see my whole family'.“

The mother and daughter duo went to Ukraine in October, which was frightening for them as two days after returning to Poland, missiles dropped in the city.

Her mother, Lilia, continues: “It’s very difficult.

“This is our favourite time of the year and when I look to prepare for Christmas, I think only about how there can’t be war or missile attacks in Ukraine at that time.“

Lilia previously discussed the horrifying moment she lost contact with her daughter.

In her last interview with GMB, the mum recalled the moment she had to part ways with her young daughter and son, who headed for Poland with their grandmother in an evacuation.

During her interview, Amelia revealed "all my fears disappear, they just disappear" when she sings on stage, while she also detailed making a friend during her evacuation trip to Poland.

But her mother Lilia shared how glad she was that Amelia only recalled the good moments, as she remembered a point where she feared for her children and their grandmother.

Lilia explained that she and her family lost contact as she made the heartbreaking decision to let the children go with their grandmother ahead of her.

During this time, there was a bombardment at a train station leaving Lilia worried for the safety of her loved ones.

She explained all, as Susanna asked her about the “heart-stopping“ and “horrifying“ moment she learned there was a situation unfolding – unsure if her family were caught up in it.

Lilia said of their train journey: “It was fine taking into account they took an evacuation train, and where they had space for two people they had five.“

Watch Good Morning Britain this Christmas Day from 7am on ITV1 & ITVX.
