Susanna Reid jokes 'hot girl summer is a few months off' after lockdown weight gain

Susanna Reid has said that she reckons it's "a little early" to be thinking about wearing a swimsuit and that "hot girl summer is a few months off".

GMB presenter Susanna, 50, quipped that she had "put a few pounds on" after co-star Andi Peters suggested going to a swimming pool as lockdown restrictions are eased in England from today.

Andi had been doing his competition segment next to a swimming pool when he joked that Ben Shephard should get into her "budgie smugglers" and Susanna a sarong.

Making a face, Susanna said to Ben: "I'll tell you what, it's a little early for a swimsuit. I've been in lockdown, there's a few pounds that have gone on.

"Hot girl summer is a couple of months away. I'll tell you."

Ben exclaimed: "The work starts now though!"

This comes after Susanna said back during the second lockdown in November that she had put on a stone.

Speaking to Joe Wicks alongside former co-star Piers Morgan, she admitted that she had struggled to curb her cravings and was finding it tough to motivate herself to exercise.

Susanna said: "I'm going to be battling with the lockdown stone, it went on during lockdown one. I really don't want another one going on during lockdown two. What are the tips you've got for trying to stay healthy and what you put into your body as well?"

She quit booze back in 2019 after a doctor told her that her "face could be scarred for life".

Susanna told The Sunday Times Magazine: “I gave up because a doctor told me to. I was concerned because my skin was flushed, I kept getting flare-ups and blemishes, and they were leaving red scars.

“I’d tried all manner of creams and washes, but I knew deep down that what was happening to my skin was probably a manifestation of what I was putting into my body.”
