Susanna Reid has best clapback for mean comment about her makeup-free face

Susanna Reid will not tolerate negativity.

And the Good Morning Britain presenter, 50, showcased how she deals with trolls trying to criticise her appearance when she hit back at one with a witty response, via her Twitter account, on Sunday.

ITV favourite Susanna was targeted by a mean keyboard warrior who posted a snap of the TV reporter without makeup on alongside one of her camera-ready with a face of expertly applied bronzer, eye shadow, blusher and lipstick.

Revealing the troll had nothing better to do than attack Susanna's looks - despite her looking amazing in both snaps - the social media user typed: "Thank god for makeup."

They made sure Susanna spotted the nasty message by tagging her in the tweet as well as her co-host Piers Morgan.

Proving that Susanna was unbothered by the troll, the journalist cleverly agreed with the mean message writer by clap backing with a one-word comment.

"Hallelujah!" she responded to the critical remark.

Several of Susanna's fans took to the micro-blogging site to urge her to ignore the mean words and to gush over her radiant visage.

One kind fan typed: "You don't need make up...real beauty is an inner warmth and kindness which you have in abundance Safe and best wishes to you Susanna."

A second joined in: "Susanna, with or without makeup your a very beautiful gorgeous women, you truly are, ive said this many times in the past years. You prove it everytime i see you, you get more so with age and your personality matches your loveliness. What else can i say Susanna. xXXx."

The social media user tried to criticise Susanna's appearance by sharing a snap of the star without make-up alongside a glamorous photo (@susannareid100/Twitter)

Others agreed as they penned: "Beautiful in any light with or without make-up Susanna !! It's the person's personality that holds endearing quality of which you have bundles" and "I don’t look like the 4am picture on a good day with a full face of makeup on nothing wrong with you, ignore them."

Susanna credits her age-defying looks to a great skincare regime and cutting back on alcohol.

She previously told The Sunday Times Magazine: "I gave up because the doctors told me to. I was concerned because my skin was flushed, I kept getting flare-ups and blemishes, and they were leaving red scars.

"I’d tried all manner of creams and washes, but I knew deep down that what was happening to my skin was probably a manifestation of what I was putting into my body."

The mum-to-three sons, Sam, 17, Finn, 15, and Jack, 14, from her relationship with Dominic Cotton, also decided in recent years to have a lifestyle makeover without torturing herself with vigorous workouts - by giving up snacking between meals.

Speaking about the moment she decided to make some changes, Susanna told Prima magazine: “This time last year, I went to the doctor with a skin problem and he told me I could do with losing some weight.

"It turned out I was at the upper end of my BMI and, I have to admit, I’d been feeling a little heavy for a while.

"I’ve lost a stone and a half since then and I feel fantastic.”

But despite being delighted with her trimmer physique, Susanna also revealed, in the same interview, that there are times when she's not so body confident.

"I often look at pictures of myself and think, ‘Wow I don’t like that.’

"But that’s normal isn’t it? There are more bad pictures of me in existence than there are good….but the fact is I’m a real woman, I just happen to be on TV and I’m quite proud of that.”
