Susanna Reid was less than impressed when Good Morning Britain co-host Piers Morgan interrupted her live on air – despite his attempt to win her over afterwards with a string of compliments.
As Reid began to introduce Peter Andre as the show’s next guest, Morgan cut across his colleague to read out a tweet from a viewer.
The 48-year-old shrugged her shoulders in disbelief and looked visibly annoyed as her presenting partner disrupted her flow.
“Well we’ve got a tweet here from Robert Foster,” Morgan said, before promising Reid: “You’re going to like this, you’re going to be pleased I’ve interrupted you.”
She then joked that their guest wouldn’t be too happy about the interruption either, telling him: “Peter Andre’s not going to be pleased!”
“He will like it too,” Morgan promised, before reading out the viewer’s message.
“Piers Morgan, I hope you’ve complimented Susanna Reid for looking so resplendent today. British beauty at its best,” the message read, prompting Reid to respond by thanking the Twitter user.
The divisive presenter then admitted that he had not “complimented” his co-star on her appearance, but proceeded to flippantly repeat the viewer’s words.
“I haven’t actually complimented you but you do look resplendent, like a British beauty at its best,” he said.
Apparently unfazed by his unceremonious welcome to the show, Andre then chimed in to voice his approval.
“I’m pleased that you did that, he’s right,” he told Reid.
The duo’s interchange comes after Morgan became enraged when Reid interrupted him mid-way through one of his characteristic rants on Monday’s show.
When he took issue with Killing Eve showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s view that it is “oddly empowering to see violent women on TV,” Reid shut him down almost instantly, prompting Morgan to suggest that he “can’t way anything” on the show.
