Susanna Reid falls into Ben Shephard's lap as he lifts her up in throwback GMB clip

Good Morning Britain 's Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid chuckled as they watched back a hilarious clip from 2017 where Ben tried to lift Susanna.

Ben was discussing his appearance on Kate Thornton's podcast White Wine Question Time, where he discussed his dance degree.

The show then played a compilation of all the clips of Ben dancing over the years with various guests, with Susanna explaining this is what viewers would be treated to if he ever did Stictly.

Ben has been very honest in the past about the fact his wife Annie has banned him from ever doing the BBC show because of the risk of the dreaded "Strictly curse" where contestants leave their current relationships for their dancing partner.

Susanna, who did Strictly in 2013, told Ben: "You have a degree in dancing, and we don't see you dancing often enough.

"You won't do Strictly, we all know why, wife says no, and frankly she is right."

Ben laughed: "I would love to do Strictly, honestly, I really would - there you go, that's coming from someone who knows, by the way!"

Susanna replied: "So let's have a look at what we are missing by Ben Shephard not being on Strictly."

The compilation then played as Ben performed various ballroom dances with guests over the years, including former Strictly professional AJ Pritchard.

"I'm not sure that has sold it - I did pass the degree, you may be surprised to know!" joked Ben.

Susanna replied: "You'd lift the Glitterball trophy, just like you once lifted me... You tried."

The clip then played as Ben attempted to lift up Susanna, before they both fell backwards and she landed in his lap.

Wrapping his arms around her, Ben steadied himself and said: "All my training from university, 3,2,1 go.... I've put my back out!"

Laughing at the video of the two of them toppling over, Ben said: "Yeah, I wasn't very good dancing with someone else."

Susanna added: "It would be fair to say, I am a little hard to lift..."

Ben assured her: "That's not the case at all, you've got to use your core and bend from the hips."

"You've got to lose a few pounds!" remarked Susanna.
