Susanna Reid diet: GMB host tells Piers Morgan she is ‘absolutely desperate’ for a drink after ditching alcohol

Susanna Reid is really struggling with her alcohol-free diet.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 47, said she is “desperate” for a drink, two months after ditching booze.

“I had kale salad last night,” she said on Wednesday’s breakfast show.

Piers Morgan goaded her to tell viewers how she came close to breaking her healthy diet. “Tell them what you actually told me about last night, about what you had to drink,” he said. “It’s eating away at your soul, isn’t it?”

Reid replied: “I was desperate for a drink. Absolutely desperate. The thing about fizzy water is it doesn’t knock the edge off things.”

The TV star then joked she is looking to I’m A Celebrity campmate Noel Edmonds for strength. “I’m going to take Noel Edmonds as my inspiration,” she said. “He avoids red meat, he exercises very slowly for an hour a week in darkness while listening to electronic pulses.”

Susannah Reid says she misses Guinness on Good Morning Britain

Reid’s comments come two days after she admitted to ‘losing the will to live’ at not being able to drink alcohol after Morgan teased her with pictures of pints of Guinness.

She had previously opened up about how much she misses being able to get involved in downing shots on a night out.

Speaking to the Is It Just Me? podcast she said: “I really miss it. When you are in a big social group and the shots come out, I miss letting my hair down.

“When you cut alcohol out that is an easy couple of pounds.

“As you get older your memory is affected. I just thought ‘alcohol is not great for your memory’.”

The presenter, who is dating Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, has lost one stone since scrapping alcohol from her diet in a bid to lower her BMI after doctors warned her she was at the top end earlier this year.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays at 6am
