Susanna Reid confronts Piers Morgan over 'fat-shaming' her in interview

Susanna Reid confronted Piers Morgan after he said that his co-host was "bigger than ever" in an interview.

The Good Morning Britain hosts opened the show today and Susanna demanded to know why she looked "twice the size" of him this today.

She asked pointedly: "Is it because I'm overweight?!"

"Oh Susanna, how modest of you," Piers responded sarcastically. "Playing the modesty card because-"

"Piers fat-shamed me at the weekend!" Susanna interjected. "Apparently you called me overweight."

Referring to an article calling out Piers and claiming Susanna has the "most perfect body in the world", he said: "I apparently caused a fat storm by telling a podcast, 'Susanna and I have never been heavier'."

Airing the controversial part of the interview, Piers was heard saying: "Susanna and I have never been heavier. I'm about 16st and I'm 6'1. I'm hovering on that BMI near what would be classified as obesity.

"I don't want to get there - I want to get down below 100 kilos. And it's not going to be easy."

Back in the studio, Piers confirmed that it wouldn't be easy but that he has the "will and desire" now that his foot has recovered after his injury last year.

"You're back on the bike," Susanna added.

"I'm back on the bike, back in the game," Piers said.

Susanna quipped: "And soon you'll have the perfect body!"
