Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan sob as 94-year-old widower receives extraordinary gift

Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid were brought to tears by a 17-year-old carer and a 94-year-old veteran on the show.

Kia Tobin lives in a care home where she looks after residents including Ken, a World War II veteran.

As a gift from thoughtful Kia, Ken Bembow received a huge cushion with his late wife Aida's face printed on it.

"It was so touching," he said through tears.

"It was the most precious thing anyone could have wished for."

Delighted, he clutched the cushion throughout his video call interview as he and Kia chatted to the GMB presenters.

Kia added: "It was amazing. It was just so rewarding. It was something small that made him so happy."

Ken sobbed in the video footage of Kia giving him the cushion, gasping with joy and holding it close to his chest.

He even kissed Aida's face on the cushion, and everyone watching burst into tears.

"Everyone watching got very emotional," said Piers.

Ken talked about heading off to war at 17 and about meeting and proposing to his wife, telling their beautiful story to the hosts.

Piers commented on the fact both Kia and Ken were 17 when they served their country through a terrible time.

And viewers were also incredibly touched by the story of the pair.

Emmerdale's Charley Webb tweeted a video of the moment Ken received his cushion from Kia.

"Listening to 94-year-old Ken Bembow on GMB, and what a guy. He was meant to be on for 5 mins but he was on for 20, telling us war stories and telling us how he met his wife. Wonderful. I could listen to Ken all day," tweeted one.

And Lizzie Cundy tweeted: "I’m in absolute tears watching dear Ken Bembow who’s carer at his care home gave him a cushion of his beautiful late wife..

"What love he has for her ! And what a gorgeous man ! Just goes to show how important our wonderful carers are @gmb @piersmorgan @susannareid100 #gmb ".
