Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan sent their well-wishes this morning to Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper as he receives treatment for coronavirus.

Last week, Good Morning Britain’s Garraway revealed that her husband was in intensive care in hospital after contracting the virus.

On Monday morning, Reid and Morgan sent out a heartfelt message of support to Garraway and Draper.

“I know I speak for all of the team and all of our viewers when we send our love to Kate Garraway and her husband Derek Draper,” said Susanna.

“You may have read over the past few days that Derek is in intensive care. He tested positive for coronavirus,” she added.

"We send him every ounce of strength as he recovers from coronavirus. Our love to him and Kate Garraway.”

Morgan echoed Reid’s message, saying: “This has really brought it home to us. Everyone has been touched by this. This is something that affects all of us."

Morgan emotionally spoke about a school friend of his whose mother passed away without him having the chance to say goodbye.

Reid and Morgan thanked NHS workers who are treating those affected by the virus.

A spokesperson for Garraway said in a statement on Friday, April 3: "Kate's husband, Derek Draper, has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of COVID-19. He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus."

The statement continued: "Kate hasn't been tested, however she has also been displaying mild symptoms, also since Monday, and as a result has been on strict isolation with her children at home.
