Susanna Reid admits she put on half a stone over Christmas but disguises it with skimpy dresses

Susanna Reid has revealed she's just like us mere mortals and overdid it a bit over Christmas.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 49, has said she put on half a stone after "hoovering up the leftovers".

But Susanna's worked out a way to cover up her weight gain and it involves some skimpy dresses and the help of the trusty GMB wardrobe department.

Writing in her column for the Daily Mail she said: "This year I'm the same old me. No plan to embark on a crazy exercise regimen to shift the half-a-stone I piled on over Christmas, hoovering up the leftovers."

Susanna said she wasn't "panicking" about the change to her body and is instead hiding it with flattering dresses.

She continued: "While all other TV presenters seemed to be swanning around the Caribbean in bikinis, to me it seemed rude not to eat the tasty biscuits given as gifts, the leftover parsnips and potatoes that were going to end up in the bin, and chocolate that even the children couldn't manage.

"OK, I'm justifying it all to myself. But I'm determined not to panic. There's nothing my figure-hugging, cleverly contouring Good Morning Britain dresses can't fix — they look unforgiving, but cover a multitude of sins."

Last year the mum-of-three lost one and a half stone after giving up alcohol and snacking between meals.

Speaking about the moment she decided to make some changes, Susanna told Prima magazine: "This time last year, I went to the doctor with a skin problem and he told me I could do with losing some weight.

"It turned out I was at the upper end of my BMI and, I have to admit, I'd been feeling a little heavy for a while.

"I've lost a stone and a half since then and I feel fantastic."

Susanna insisted she didn't want to spend hours in the gym and just made some changes to her lifestyle instead.

She told the Daily Express : "I wanted to shift some weight and as part of that I gave up drink...

"I've stopped snacking between meals and I am eating more sensibly too...

"It is more than 100 days since I last touched alcohol and I feel clearer, sharper, and more energetic than ever."
