Susan Boyle has shared her delight after Liam Gallagher dedicated Oasis’s Stand By Me to her during the band’s final night at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.
Before launching into the 1997 hit on Tuesday, the frontman told the crowd: “This one’s for Susan Boyle.”
He later doubled down on Instagram with a carousel of black-and-white shots captioned: “THIS ONE’S FOR SUSAN BOYLE. Edinburgh Night Three. 12.08.25.”
Boyle, 63, responded with a thumbs-up selfie in Oasis merch and a message of thanks on Instagram.
“You’ve made this old girl’s day,” she wrote, adding that she hopes to catch the band at Wembley in September for “a wee bit of Poznań” — the arms-linked bounce popular with football fans.
The opera singer - who originally shot to fame as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009 - also reshared Gallagher’s post on her Stories.
The dedication capped a blockbuster three-night run in the Scottish capital that drew tens of thousands of fans.
It also followed headlines from the opening show, when Gallagher took aim at Edinburgh City Council over leaked safety briefings that described Oasis attendees as “drunk” and “older,” and at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, which he dismissed in colourful terms from the stage.
The leaked council documents had warned of “rowdy” crowds and potential clashes with Fringe performers during the Oasis dates. Gallagher’s riposte — delivered to 70,000 fans — included an on-stage call for an apology from officials.
The Wonderwall hit-makers are set to take their hugely successful reunion tour to America in the coming weeks and while it may be a country that prides its self on free speech, the loud-mouthed Gallaghers have been advised to “stay out of American politics”.
Liam once called the US President Donald Trump a “d**k”, while Noel labelled his environmental politics as “pretty f***ing scary”.
Entertainment manager Jonathan Shalit told the MailOnline: “My advice to Oasis is simple: stay out of American politics… If they want their US tour to go ahead without disruption, it would be wise to keep quiet on all things Trump.”
It could be sound advice, especially as they are said to be weighing up their next move, which includes an offer from US-based festival Coachella.
