Singer Susan Boyle has released a touching tribute following the heartbreaking passing of her "loyal" friend Paul O'Grady. The TV presenter died at the age of 67 on Tuesday evening (March 28).

O'Grady was a TV stalwart, presenting TV shows such as The Paul O'Grady Show, For the Love of Dogs, and Blankety Blank. He was also renowned for his much-loved portrayal of his drag queen alter ego, Lily Savage.

His partner, Andre Portasio confirmed the news of his passing during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The statement reads: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening.

“We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.

“I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.”

After her friend's sudden passing, singer Susan, 61, posted a photo on Facebook of the last ever snap of the pair in memory of the loved comedian, The Mirror reports. She revealed that she had last seen Paul just the week prior to his passing, bumping into each other in Edinburgh.

The caption of the post reads: "Paul, you were one in a million, kind, funny, and a loyal friend. When I saw you last week in Edinburgh, never would I have thought that this was goodbye. Sending love to Andre and your family. I will miss you."

Susan also shared a throwback snap of the pair at a Save the Children event where they were both pictured smiling as they conducted an interview. The singer's heartfelt tribute comes after Paul's sudden death sent shockwaves through the showbiz world following his stellar career in the industry.
